Daniel Marcos made a statement in Las Vegas, bouncing back from the first loss of his career with a dominant submission victory over Miles Johns at UFC Vegas 111.
The Peruvian bantamweight, who entered the fight 17-1, showed composure early before taking over in round two. After securing multiple takedowns, Marcos took Johns’ back and locked in a rear-naked choke. Johns refused to tap and was rendered unconscious, leaving the referee to step in as Marcos celebrated his first submission win.
The emotional victory marked Marcos’ return to form after what he described as a dark period following his loss to Montel Jackson in May.
“After the last fight, I fell into deep darkness,” Marcos said. “A lot of people turned their backs on me, but I told myself this won’t define me. I’m going to turn things around.”
Now 18-1, Marcos ends his brief skid in emphatic fashion — reminding fans why he was once one of the UFC’s top undefeated prospects.
