Jack Della Maddalena to Face Carlos Prates at UFC Perth

Jack Della Maddalena will return to action on May 2 in Perth, Australia. He will meet Carlos Prates in a key welterweight bout.

Della Maddalena lost his title to Islam Makhachev last November at Madison Square Garden. The defeat ended his eight-fight unbeaten run inside the UFC.

The Australian has spoken about seeking a rematch with Makhachev. He must first rebuild momentum in front of a home crowd.

Prates enters the fight with strong form. He knocked out Leon Edwards on the same night as the recent title bout. He has also earned consecutive bonus-winning finishes since a loss to Ian Machado Garry last year.

The matchup offers both men major stakes in the welterweight division. A win could move either fighter closer to another title opportunity.
