UFC Title Fight Halted After Accidental Blow
Tom Aspinall’s heavyweight clash with Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 came to a shocking end when an unintentional eye poke left the champion unable to continue. The foul occurred early in the opening round, prompting officials to stop the contest and declare it a no-contest. Following the incident, Aspinall was transported to a hospital in Abu Dhabi, where he underwent immediate medical evaluation to determine the extent of the injury.

Coach Confirms Ongoing Loss of Sight
In an update shared several days after the bout, Aspinall’s father and trainer, Andy Aspinall, revealed that his son still has no vision in his right eye. He described the fighter’s condition as “seeing only grey” and said further examinations were being conducted to identify possible damage to the retina or optic nerve. Although scans ruled out any fractures around the orbital area, doctors have not yet provided a clear prognosis for full recovery.

Medical Reviews Continue as UFC Awaits News
UFC representatives stated that Aspinall is receiving continued care from eye specialists and that the organization is closely tracking his recovery. They noted that no decision will be made about his fighting future until doctors confirm that his vision has stabilized. For now, Aspinall’s immediate focus remains on healing, with his team awaiting detailed results from advanced imaging tests conducted earlier this week.
