Former kickboxing champion and media figure Andrew Tate announced he will assume leadership of Misfits Boxing. His claim means he replaces YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI as CEO just weeks before stepping back into the ring. Tate is scheduled to fight reality TV star Chase DeMoor for the Misfits heavyweight title on December 20 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Misfits Boxing began three years ago, founded by KSI, Mams Taylor, and promoters Kalle and Nisse Sauerland to host influencer and celebrity fights. The announcement appeared to catch KSI completely off guard. “WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** IS GOING ON?” he wrote on X. “Making ANDREW TATE the CEO of MISFITS?! ARE YOU F****** SERIOUS?!”
Old Footage Resurfaces as Fans React
After Tate’s announcement, old footage of his final professional fight resurfaced online and quickly went viral. The 2016 video, viewed nearly five million times, shows Tate quitting in the first round against Ibrahim El Boustati at Enfusion Live 44 in the Netherlands.
El Boustati dropped Tate with a left hook, and Tate immediately pointed to his injured eye before withdrawing. The referee declared a TKO loss, costing Tate his Enfusion Live World Cruiserweight title. He retired soon after, citing long-term eye damage that had worsened throughout his career. Fans criticized the clip, claiming it exposed weaknesses that undermine his new role at Misfits.
Support Swings Toward Tate’s Opponent
Many Misfits followers reacted angrily to KSI’s removal and Tate’s sudden rise. The resurfaced footage intensified backlash, with fans accusing Misfits of prioritizing controversy over competition. Supporters online voiced disappointment, calling the decision damaging to the brand’s credibility.
As Tate prepares for his December bout, public sentiment seems to favor Chase DeMoor. Many believe DeMoor now carries the crowd’s support, while Tate must not only prove his fighting ability but also validate his position as Misfits Boxing’s unexpected new leader.
