Jake Paul’s next opponent remains uncertain after reported issues with Gervonta Davis, but one surprising name — Francis Ngannou — has drawn attention and debate.
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping weighed in on the potential matchup, calling it a “car crash” fight that would still be a win-win for Paul. While Bisping doubts the bout will actually happen, he said Paul would gain “a lot of respect” for stepping into the ring with the former UFC heavyweight king.
“For Jake Paul, it would almost be worth the risk,” Bisping said. “Even if he lost — which he would — people would still say, ‘Look at the guts on him.’”
Bisping noted that for Ngannou, the fight would make financial sense, giving him “three of the biggest boxing paydays of this generation” after facing Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
However, Bisping believes a rematch with Nate Diaz is far more realistic, calling it a safer and more marketable fight for Paul. “There’s no way Jake fights Ngannou,” he said. “If he does, I’ll admit I was wrong — but Nate Diaz is the likely option.”
