Dana White eyes blockbuster BMF rematch between Oliveira and Holloway

Dana White is showing real interest in a potential BMF title fight between Charles Oliveira and reigning champion Max Holloway. The UFC president spoke after the 83rd edition of Dana White’s Contender Series, taking questions from the media about Oliveira’s impressive comeback. Oliveira had just beaten Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Rio and immediately called out Holloway for a BMF title rematch. His challenge sparked plenty of talk in the fight world.

A decade-old story ready for a new chapter

Oliveira and Holloway have faced each other before, but their first meeting ended abruptly. In August 2015, at UFC Saskatoon, Oliveira suffered an injury less than two minutes into the opening round. That result left many fans wondering what could have been between the two rising stars. Now, ten years later, the idea of a rematch feels like the perfect way to settle unfinished business.

When asked about the potential fight, White sounded intrigued. “That is obviously a fight that would be incredible too. To see them two again,” he said. He added that discussions had already taken place earlier that day, hinting that the matchup is more than just talk at this point.

Paramount debut could feature big names

White also revealed some interesting details about the UFC’s future broadcast plans. During the same media session, he mentioned that a major champion might headline the first UFC event under the new deal with Paramount. The nearly eight-billion-dollar agreement begins in 2026 and represents one of the promotion’s biggest media moves yet.

According to White, the UFC team had already been discussing the first Paramount card. When asked if featherweight champion Ilia Topuria could headline that debut event, White simply said, “It’s a possibility.” That comment was enough to fuel speculation about who might open this new broadcast era.

A final farewell before the new era begins

Before the Paramount deal officially starts, the UFC will close out its partnership with ESPN in style. Merab Dvalishvili will headline the final card of the ESPN era in December, facing Petr Yan in a bantamweight title rematch at UFC 323. Their clash will mark the end of one era and the beginning of another for the world’s biggest fight promotion.

Dana White’s latest comments highlight a thrilling future for the UFC. Between the potential BMF showdown and the upcoming Paramount debut, fans can expect major headlines and unforgettable fights in the months ahead.
