Conor McGregor plans six months of isolation for his big UFC comeback

Conor McGregor has vowed to completely isolate himself as he prepares for his long-awaited return to the UFC. The Irish superstar announced that he will dedicate six months to intense training and total focus ahead of his comeback.

“The Notorious” aims to compete at the UFC’s planned White House event in June 2026, which will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States. McGregor reaffirmed that he is determined to return stronger than ever.

Focus on a long-awaited clash with Michael Chandler

McGregor’s potential opponent remains his Ultimate Fighter rival, Michael Chandler. The two were supposed to meet at UFC 303 in June 2024, but McGregor was forced to withdraw after breaking his pinky toe.

The former two-division champion has now re-entered the drug testing pool, signaling that his return is serious. Fans have long waited for this matchup, which promises fireworks inside the Octagon.

Six-month operation for a full comeback

At a pre-fight media event for BKFC 82, McGregor detailed his preparation plan. He explained that he has just over eight months until the White House event, and six of those will be devoted entirely to his comeback camp.

“I see it as a six-month operation to get ready,” McGregor said. “I’m fully committed to putting in the work. I was in incredible shape last time, but a brief lapse in concentration caused my injury. I want to correct that and show what I’m truly capable of.”

McGregor added that he feels a renewed hunger to fight again. “I’m eager to get back. There’s a lot at stake, and I can’t wait to climb those steps again. We’ll see what the future holds after that.”

    Total isolation and unbroken discipline

To make his comeback successful, McGregor plans to cut off all distractions. “There will be a period of isolation where the phone will not be answered,” he said. “Everyone around me knows it’s coming. I have no illusions about what lies ahead. The phone will be off, and the work will be done.”

This approach marks a return to the single-minded discipline that once made him the UFC’s most electrifying fighter.

Four years away from the Octagon

McGregor last stepped into the Octagon in July 2021 at UFC 264, when he broke his leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. Since then, he has remained out of action.

The Irishman holds a UFC record of 10 wins and 4 losses, with eight victories coming by knockout. His striking power and charisma made him one of the sport’s biggest global icons.

Now, as 2026 approaches, Conor McGregor appears ready to reignite his fighting spirit and remind the world why he became a legend in the first place.
