Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has shared his first public statement following a devastating car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his longtime team members.

    Remembering Lost Friends

The accident occurred last month, just days after Joshua’s victory over Jake Paul. While Joshua suffered only minor injuries, the crash tragically claimed the lives of two of his close associates. Authorities have charged a 46-year-old man with death by dangerous driving, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Joshua has been quiet on social media as he mourns, but in a recent post, he paid tribute to his fallen teammates. “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers,” he wrote. “I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100 percent it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”

    Support from Fellow Nigerians

Joshua connected with fellow Nigerian sports star Kamaru Usman through a video call after the accident, receiving support during this difficult period. Friends, fans, and the boxing community have also sent messages of sympathy as he navigates his grief.

    Moving Forward in the Ring

Despite the tragedy, Joshua is still preparing for the next chapter of his boxing career. He is reportedly set to face Tyson Fury in a heavyweight showdown later this year. For now, Joshua and his family are focused on coping with the loss of his teammates while he continues to plan for his future in the sport.

This is a developing story, and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
