London, August 30, 2025 — Andrew Tate, the controversial British-American social media figure and former kickboxer, is not in discussions to fight under the Misfits Boxing banner, BBC Sport has learned.
Conflicting Reports
Recent speculation suggested Tate was in advanced talks to feature in a Misfits Boxing event later this year, with some outlets claiming an announcement could arrive at Saturday’s show. Combat sports site Uncrowned even reported that negotiations had reached a “serious stage.” However, sources linked to DAZN — the official Misfits broadcaster — told BBC Sport that no such talks are taking place and no announcement is expected.
Misfits Boxing, co-founded by YouTuber and fighter KSI and operating in partnership with Wasserman Boxing, has built a reputation for crossover fights featuring influencers, celebrities, and professional athletes. The promotion declined to comment on the rumors when approached by BBC Sport.
Tate’s Legal Troubles
The 38-year-old remains embroiled in multiple legal battles across several countries. In the UK, four women are suing him over allegations of sexual assault, including claims he choked one woman, threatened her with a firearm, and beat her with a belt in 2015. Tate has denied all accusations, describing them in court filings as “fabrications.”
In Romania, Tate and his brother Tristan face criminal charges including human trafficking, exploitation of minors, money laundering, and rape. Both brothers are also under investigation in Florida, USA. Despite these legal proceedings, Tate continues to maintain a visible presence at combat sports events, including UFC 313 and a Power Slap show in March, where he appeared alongside UFC president Dana White.
Combat Sports Background
Before becoming known for his online persona, Tate achieved success in kickboxing, winning four world titles — three with ISKA and one under Dutch promotion Enfusion. His combat sports background, combined with his controversial public profile, has reportedly attracted interest from promoters seeking high-profile crossover bouts.
Upcoming Misfits Event
Misfits Boxing stages its next event this Saturday in Manchester, headlined by former UFC fighters Darren Till and Luke Rockhold. Neither Tate nor his representatives have made public statements regarding his rumored involvement with the promotion.
