A former UFC champion believes Alex Pereira could face serious problems with his heavyweight ambitions. Pereira reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight title late last year and now eyes a bold future. He returned to the throne at 205 pounds after a decisive rematch victory. Pereira stopped Magomed Ankalaev with strikes in October and settled unfinished business. He then shifted his focus away from defending his belt again. Pereira made clear plans for 2026 and spoke openly about changing divisions.

The Brazilian fighter previously held the middleweight title and now plans another move upward. Pereira called for a heavyweight switch immediately after his latest win. Many observers see opportunity in that division and praise its thinner competitive field. Analysts already predict Pereira could make UFC history across three weight classes. Yet one rival who knows Pereira well urges caution.

Jamahal Hill Sees Real Danger At Heavyweight

Alex Pereira delivered consistent and brutal success since his 2024 move to light heavyweight. His rise included a memorable finish over Jamahal Hill. Pereira knocked Hill out in the first round at UFC 300. The stoppage quickly spread online and defined their rivalry. Hill recently discussed Pereira’s heavyweight intentions during an interview.

Hill acknowledged Pereira’s motivation and financial goals. He said Pereira seeks challenges and major paydays. Hill pointed to recent heavyweight bouts as evidence of stylistic danger. He referenced Tom Aspinall’s fight with Ciryl Gane and highlighted effective boxing exchanges. Hill still described the leap as extremely difficult. He stressed the physical risks Pereira would face.

Hill explained that heavyweights rely on control and strength. He said opponents will clinch and force grappling exchanges. Hill noted Pereira has defended takedowns but still hit the mat at light heavyweight. He warned that larger fighters could overpower Pereira. Hill said heavyweight opponents could simply lift and control him.

Jiri Prochazka Comments Hint At Pereira’s Next Move

The UFC has not confirmed Pereira’s next division yet. Another former light heavyweight champion may have revealed key details. Jiri Prochazka recently shared comments about his own future. Prochazka stopped Khalil Rountree Jr. with strikes and secured consecutive wins. He rebounded after his second loss to Pereira. He has since pushed for another title opportunity.

Prochazka suggested that fight discussions continue behind the scenes. He mentioned negotiations involving Carlos Ulberg. Many fans view Ulberg as the leading contender. The UFC appears interested in booking Ulberg against Prochazka. Such plans could indicate Pereira’s departure from the division.

Prochazka addressed online rumors directly through social media. He denied that any fight agreement exists yet. He said talks continue and nothing stands finalized. Prochazka stated he wants to compete at the end of March. He explained that April brings family commitments. He emphasized his desire to fight for a title. He urged fans to trust official UFC announcements.
