Terence Crawford claims Tyson vs Paul bout was ‘scripted’

Terence Crawford has questioned the legitimacy of the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Crawford watched as Netflix promoted the bout in late 2024. The event marked the platform’s entry into live boxing. Paul defeated Tyson by decision in the main event. Tyson had returned to professional boxing after nearly 20 years away.

The fight drew heavy criticism because of Tyson’s age. Many viewers described the contest as flat and underwhelming. Tyson avoided serious damage, but fans debated the competitiveness.

Fifteen months later, Crawford revived claims that the bout was scripted. He said he had never seen Tyson hesitate in the ring like that. He suggested Tyson appeared to hold back his punches.

Crawford said it was painful to watch a boxing icon perform that way. He argued Tyson should not have taken the fight. He added that other opportunities could have generated income without risking his legacy.

Despite the controversy, Tyson plans another return. He is reportedly targeting a grudge match with Floyd Mayweather. Reports suggest April 25 as a potential date, with Congo named as a possible venue.

Mayweather also plans a rematch with Manny Pacquiao later in the year. That event is expected to headline the first boxing card at the Las Vegas Sphere on September 19.

The debate over Tyson’s comeback continues as major names prepare for more high-profile bouts.
