Islam Makhachev says fighting at the White House appeals to him because it offers a unique chance to make history.
The UFC plans to host a special event in Washington, D.C. on June 14 to celebrate Independence Day.
Several stars, including Jon Jones and Conor McGregor, have expressed interest.

Makhachev recently told Arena Fight TV that he wants to compete on the card.
He said the event would be a one-time opportunity.
He explained that he already earns enough money for his family.
Now he wants to create history and cement his legacy.

The welterweight champion won the title at UFC 322 last November.
Several contenders have since called for a shot at his belt.
Makhachev has named Kamaru Usman as a preferred opponent.
He also discussed a potential fight with Ilia Topuria.

However, his manager Ali Abdelaziz dismissed the Topuria matchup for June 14.
He insisted Makhachev will next face a true welterweight contender.
Abdelaziz instead pointed to Justin Gaethje as the likely challenger.

Gaethje strengthened his case by winning at UFC 324.
He now believes he deserves to headline the White House event.
Whether Makhachev appears in Washington will depend on final matchmaking decisions.
