Colby Covington Doubts Rumoured Conor McGregor Showdown at UFC White House

Colby Covington does not expect to face Conor McGregor at the proposed UFC White House event on June 14. Rumours of the matchup spread quickly this week but were dismissed by UFC CEO Dana White, who labelled the reports false.

McGregor has not competed since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Although he has publicly targeted a return this summer, no opponent has been confirmed.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Covington said McGregor usually chooses favourable stylistic matchups and may avoid facing a strong wrestler. Covington described himself as one of the most well-rounded fighters in the UFC and suggested McGregor might prefer a striker or veteran opponent instead.

Despite his doubts, Covington said he would welcome the opportunity. Meanwhile, McGregor has resumed full training and recently posted footage of himself drilling submissions as he prepares for his long-awaited comeback.
