Dan Hooker wasted no time looking ahead to his next fight after being submitted by Arman Tsarukyan in the second round at UFC Qatar. The New Zealander, whose three-fight win streak came to an end, set his sights on Renato Moicano during his first interview after the defeat.
Moicano, a former title challenger, is coming off back-to-back losses — a submission to Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 and a decision defeat to Beneil Dariush at UFC 317. Hooker jokingly pitched the matchup with trademark self-deprecating humour.
“It’s a good fight. We both suck,” he told The Mac Life, laughing. “We both got cooked. Islam cooked him, Arman cooked me. We can have a cook-off. We’re both s—, but he’s s—ter. Let’s have a s— off.”
Hooker, now 35, also opened up about his future ambitions after suffering the 13th loss of his career. He admitted a UFC title is likely out of reach but insisted he still has a purpose in the sport.
“You’re probably never going to get your hands on a title,” he said. “But I’m going to hang around as long as I possibly can and ruin as many people’s hopes and dreams as I can. If I can’t have nice things, no one can.”
