Tom Aspinall will finish Ciryl Gane at UFC 321, but he will not do it with strikes. Former UFC champion Michael Bisping shared his prediction while analyzing the main event on his YouTube channel.
Bisping has praised Aspinall for years but disagrees with oddsmakers who make Gane the heavy favorite. He expects a competitive fight. Speaking about Aspinall’s first defense of the undisputed title, after winning the interim belt last July, Bisping said:
“It will be an entertaining fight. I don’t see this being one-way traffic like Tom’s previous bouts.”
“Gane has learned from losses to Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. He knows his weaknesses and will try to fix them.”
“I still think Aspinall gets it done. It will end in a stoppage. Probably a submission. If you want to bet on a finish, I would choose a ground-and-pound finish.”
Aspinall Focuses on the Present but Eyes the Future
Tom Aspinall remains focused on Ciryl Gane but already considers his next opponent. He spoke to reporters during UFC 321 media day about what could follow a victory in Abu Dhabi.
“Whatever the UFC decides. It’s clear they will do winner vs. winner of me vs. Gane, and Volkov vs. Almeida. Not a tag-team match. The winner of us faces the winner of them for the heavyweight title.”
If Aspinall wins, Alexander Volkov could offer a rematch. Jailton Almeida would provide a fresh challenge. Either way, Aspinall wants to stay active as champion after Jon Jones dominated the division. Jones retired without fighting Aspinall for unification.
