Ronda Rousey has teased a potential UFC return nearly a decade after her last fight, but not everyone is convinced it’s a good idea.
The former bantamweight champion, who hasn’t fought since back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in 2015 and 2016, recently posted a training video on Instagram saying she had rediscovered her “love” for MMA. The post reignited speculation that the 38-year-old pioneer could step back into the Octagon.
UFC veteran Matt Brown believes a comeback would end badly. Speaking on The Fighter vs. The Writer, he said: “We know everyone would get behind bringing Ronda Rousey back… Whether they love her or hate her, we’ll watch 100 percent. (But) you cannot take that time off and expect to come back at a high level. Everybody else is working every day… She’ll get destroyed.”
Meanwhile, Cris Cyborg, who has two fights left on her PFL contract, has already offered to be Rousey’s opponent should she commit to fighting again. The Brazilian legend wrote “#CyborgRousey” on social media in response to the comeback rumors.
For now, the hype around Rousey’s possible return continues to swirl — but whether it becomes reality remains to be seen.
