Juan Archuleta Calls for UFC Shot After Dominant BORROKA Win

Juan Archuleta, former Bellator and RIZIN Bantamweight Champion, is staking his claim for a UFC contract following back-to-back victories in Las Vegas. The 38-year-old veteran snapped a three-fight losing streak earlier this year and added another highlight-reel moment with a flying knee knockout at BORROKA 3, where he also defended his featherweight title.

Most recently, Archuleta submitted former UFC fighter Jose Johnson—a towering 6’0″ competitor, the tallest ever in UFC flyweight history—via rear-naked choke in round two. This marked Archuleta’s second career submission victory and his 31st professional win (31-7 record).

Post-fight, Archuleta called out UFC featherweight contenders like Dan Ige and Diego Lopes, signaling that he’s ready to compete at the highest level. At 38, time is of the essence, though the UFC has shown a willingness to sign older, proven talent; earlier this year, they signed former Bellator two-division champion Patricio Pitbull at 37.

Archuleta’s resume includes victories over notable fighters such as Patchy Mix, Enrique Barzola, Hiromasa Ougikubo, Eduardo Dantas, Henry Corrales, and Ricky Bandejas. His continued success in other promotions strengthens his argument for a UFC opportunity.

Meanwhile, fellow Bellator veteran Daniel Weichel also made headlines by returning from a two-year hiatus to win a unanimous decision over Abou Tounkara at OKTAGON 76 in Frankfurt, Germany. The 40-year-old welterweight tournament winner snapped a two-fight losing skid and marked a successful comeback in his 58-fight career.

Archuleta’s dominant performances and veteran credentials make a compelling case for UFC entry, though it may truly be a “now or never” moment for the 38-year-old.
