‘Not Retired’… Jon Jones Updates Fighting Future After UFC White House Card Ruled Out

Jon Jones insists he is ready and willing to fight for the UFC despite Dana White ruling him out for the upcoming White House event. The former two-weight champion announced his retirement in June, canceling what White believed was a planned undisputed bout with heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Days later, Jones backtracked amid UFC plans for a 2026 White House show, but White has since said Jones’ participation is extremely unlikely, offering “a billion-to-one” odds on it happening.

Jones clarified his status at the MTV VMAs, saying, “I am not retired. I’m actively training 5 days a week, and I’m in the UFC’s drug testing pool.” When asked about fighting at the White House, he added, “I don’t really know… It’s kind of out of my control fight now. I’m training for the event. I’ll be ready for the event. That’s my goal. That’s my intention, but ultimately it’s up to the boss.”

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor is eyeing a comeback at the UFC White House card, now scheduled for June 2026. Fighters will weigh in on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, with the event featuring warm-ups inside the White House, fireworks, and light shows. McGregor responded to the news with excitement, making him the frontrunner to headline the unique UFC event, though Jones’ potential involvement remains uncertain.
