Beterbiev to Face Benavidez After November 22 Card
Trainer Jose Benavidez Sr. confirmed that WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez will face Artur Beterbiev following their respective fights on the November 22nd DAZN card at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Beterbiev is currently scheduled to fight Deon Nicholson on the undercard, keeping active after his February defeat to Dmitry Bivol.
Contingency Plan: Beterbiev Could Headline
There is a possibility that Beterbiev could be moved to the main event against Benavidez if Anthony Yarde, Benavidez’s scheduled opponent, suffers an injury during training camp. Benavidez Sr. confirmed that a fight with Beterbiev has already been accepted and preparations are underway, ensuring the next big matchup is secured.
Eyes on Bivol After Beterbiev
Although Beterbiev had hoped to face IBF, WBA, and WBO champion Dmitry Bivol in a trilogy match, Bivol is recovering from back surgery announced earlier in August. “We offered him a fight… he didn’t want to take it. The only one that stepped up and said yes was Beterbiev,” Benavidez Sr. said. He added that the team hopes Bivol recovers and that a future Benavidez-Bivol showdown could still happen after the Beterbiev bout.
