Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is aiming to make a statement in his return to the ring at Misfits Boxing 22 this weekend, taking on fellow Octagon veteran Darren Till in Manchester.
Rockhold, who has experienced a mix of results since leaving the UFC—including a knockout win over Joe Schilling and a loss to Mike Perry in a BKFC bout—is confident of replicating his success against Till. Known for his submission skills earlier in his MMA career, Rockhold also racked up notable knockouts, including a four-round victory over Chris Weidman to claim the UFC middleweight title.
In a bold prediction posted on Instagram, Rockhold vowed to stop Till inside three rounds:
“I’m putting you down in 3 [rounds], D (Darren Till).”
Potential UFC Return
Despite focusing on boxing, the Santa Cruz native has hinted at a possible return to mixed martial arts under certain conditions. Rockhold commented on the current middleweight scene, including Khamzat Chimaev’s rise, but emphasized that any comeback would need to involve title implications and a significant financial incentive.
“…Why the f— would I go back to MMA? There would have to be a big opportunity and a big reason. There would have to be title implications, and there would have to be big money,” Rockhold explained.
This weekend, all eyes will be on Rockhold as he looks to back up his prediction against Darren Till.
