Paulo Costa will step into the Octagon for the second time this year. The middleweight clash against Shara Magomedov will headline the UFC Fight Night co-main event in Qatar.
MMA journalist Laerte Viana recently reported the matchup, confirming it will take place on November 22 at ABHA Arena in Doha. On Wednesday, Costa, nicknamed “The Eraser,” confirmed the fight himself on X. He revealed he accepted the promotion’s offer to face Magomedov in Doha. Since then, Costa has taunted “Bullet” relentlessly across social media.
UFC Qatar Promises Exciting Card
UFC Qatar marks the promotion’s first visit to the country. The event already boasts multiple high-profile matchups.
The card features a light heavyweight showdown between former champion Jan Blachowicz and Bogdan Guskov. A bantamweight bout will pit Aleksandre Topuria against Bekzat Almakhan. Another 205-pound clash will see Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev take on Rafael Cerqueira. The lineup also includes a flyweight battle between Alex Perez and Asu Almabayev.
Recent Wins for Costa and Magomedov
Paulo Costa last fought at UFC 318 this July, defeating Roman Kopylov via unanimous decision. “The Eraser” once enjoyed a 13-fight unbeaten streak but has struggled since losing a title challenge to Israel Adesanya at UFC 253 in September 2020. He went 2-4 in his last six fights. Costa holds a 7-4 UFC record, with four wins by knockout.
Shara Magomedov last competed in July at UFC Abu Dhabi. He earned a unanimous decision win over Marc-André Barriault, bouncing back from his first career loss to Michael Page at UFC Saudi Arabia in February. “Bullet” holds a 5-1 UFC record, including victories over Armen Petrosyan, Michał Oleksiejczuk, and Bruno Silva.
Both fighters now aim to build momentum as UFC Qatar approaches on November 22.
