Manny Pacquiao believes his rematch with Floyd Mayweather will eclipse their historic first meeting.

Netflix announced that the rivals will fight at the Sphere on September 19. The streaming platform will broadcast the bout live worldwide. The news followed Mayweather’s decision to end a nine-year retirement from professional boxing.

Their first fight in 2015 became the richest bout in boxing history. The event generated more than $600 million and set pay-per-view records. Pacquiao now expects an even larger global audience through streaming.

In a press release, Pacquiao said fans deserve the long-awaited rematch. He claimed the Netflix partnership would make the event bigger than before. He also vowed to hand Mayweather the only loss of his career.

Pacquiao dedicated the fight to Filipinos around the world. He said he wants to bring pride to the Philippines once again.

Mayweather last fought professionally in 2017 against Conor McGregor. Pacquiao has remained active at elite level. He returned last year and fought Mario Barrios to a majority draw for the WBC welterweight title.

Despite Pacquiao’s recent activity, Mayweather predicted a repeat result. He said he already defeated Pacquiao once and expects the same outcome in September.
