Fans remain frustrated with the first major Paramount event. Today, they briefly saw a surprise third title fight, but the reveal vanished as quickly as it appeared.
UFC 324 opens a new era for the organisation under a massive broadcast deal with Paramount. All numbered events will stream on Paramount+ without pay-per-view fees. Fans expect major savings each year. Still, many criticised the unusual lightweight interim title main event, which excludes clear top contender Arman Tsarukyan.
Deleted Post Claims Holloway vs Oliveira Was Added
This afternoon, the official UFC Brazil account accidentally posted a message announcing a new BMF title fight. The post said Max Holloway would defend his belt against Charles Oliveira. It praised a clash of “tough shells” and promised a battle to decide the promotion’s toughest fighter. The post disappeared soon after.
Bloody Elbow later confirmed that the bout is not joining the event. The outlet reported a simple internal misunderstanding. Early plans included a Holloway–Oliveira rematch for the BMF belt. Those plans changed before the official card reveal.
Reason for the Cancellation Still Unknown
Dana White announced the full UFC 324 lineup during the NFL Thanksgiving broadcast. Holloway vs Oliveira was not part of the announcement. The organisation has not explained why the matchup was removed. No replacement plan is known.
Main Event Draws Strong Fan Criticism
The event now features Paddy Pimblett vs Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title as its headliner. Kayla Harrison faces Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight belt in the co-main. Sean O’Malley meets Song Yadong in the next fight on the card.
Many fans dislike the main event and point to Tsarukyan’s absence. He confirmed his place as the division’s top contender after beating Dan Hooker in Qatar.
Tension increased when UFC 325 announced Alexander Volkanovski vs Diego Lopes 2. Fans accused the promotion of drifting toward scripted entertainment and even threatened to boycott upcoming events.
