Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman has not ruled out stepping back into mixed martial arts in the future.
Weidman once dominated the middleweight division. His two victories over Anderson Silva, though unusual, confirmed his top status. He successfully defended the championship several times, proving his skill and resilience.
Rumors now swirl about Weidman’s next move. Possibilities include a boxing match against Silva or a return to the GFL if the league restarts.
Weidman reflects on a possible MMA comeback
In a recent interview, Weidman spoke openly about returning to the cage.
“I can’t see MMA happening outside the UFC right now,” he told MMA Fighting. “I don’t know if I could earn the kind of money needed to put my body through that again. It would have to be the right fighter, someone I have history with, like Luke Rockhold.”
He added, “The opportunity would need to offer really good money. I don’t think MMA offers that at this moment.”
Boxing could provide bigger paydays
Weidman sees more financial opportunities in boxing. “Boxing probably delivers better purses,” he said. “MMA could work if the right call comes with the right money and opponent. I love competing, I train constantly, and I believe I’m still very good. Why not?”
His comments suggest he remains open to a high-profile return. Fans continue watching closely for his next move.
