Manny Pacquiao addresses Floyd Mayweather rematch rumors amid Netflix interest

Manny Pacquiao has responded to renewed speculation about a potential rematch with Floyd Mayweather, nearly 11 years after their 2015 megafight. Reports suggest that Netflix is exploring hosting the blockbuster bout as part of its growing move into live sports events.

Pacquiao, who recently ended his retirement and fought Mario Barrios to a draw, remains noncommittal about the matchup but hasn’t ruled it out. Speaking to The Sun, the Filipino legend said, “I’ve been motivated since after the first fight. After my shoulder operation, I got back to the ring and I’m okay. God is good — he’s giving me strength to continue my career.” When asked directly about facing Mayweather again, he added, “It depends. I’m a fighter — I’m not ducking anybody.”

In addition to his boxing comeback, Pacquiao has been appointed vice president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), sparking talk that a potential Mayweather rematch could even be sanctioned under the new IBA Pro Series, possibly for an inaugural welterweight title.

While neither fighter has confirmed negotiations, the prospect of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather 2 — this time with Netflix behind it — would likely be one of the most-watched events in boxing history.
