Jiri Prochazka Weighs a Fresh Challenge at Middleweight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka is seriously considering a drop to 185 pounds. The Czech fighter revealed that a move to middleweight depends on how his path unfolds at light heavyweight.

The rivalry that shaped his rise

Prochazka has earned a reputation as one of the UFC’s most relentless warriors. He has defeated nearly every opponent he faced in the light heavyweight division—except Alex Pereira. Their two battles have left unfinished business, and a third meeting seems possible. But Pereira has other ambitions. He has stated his intention to face Jon Jones at heavyweight during next year’s UFC White House event.

That complicates things for Prochazka, who wants revenge for both his losses to Pereira. If Pereira follows through with his move to heavyweight, Prochazka might have to look elsewhere for his next challenge.

Testing the limits of his body

In a recent interview, Prochazka shared his thoughts about dropping to middleweight. “Cutting to 93 kilograms isn’t a problem,” he told Cageside Press backstage at Oktagon 79. “Going to 84 kilograms, like middleweight, would be really something. I believe I can make it because I know my body. But first, I want to bring the light heavyweight title back to the Czech Republic.”

Prochazka’s words show his belief in his physical ability and mental discipline. The idea of fighting at 185 pounds excites him, but his focus remains on reclaiming gold in his current division.

    A future full of possibilities

Fans admire Prochazka’s energy, creativity, and warrior spirit. No matter the weight class, he continues to attract attention with his unique fighting style. His mix of humility and hunger keeps him among the most respected names in the UFC.

Whether he stays at light heavyweight or dares to test middleweight, Jiri Prochazka’s journey promises more thrilling chapters ahead.
