Schofield Withdraws From Diaz Bout After Wrist Injury

Floyd Schofield Jr. withdrew from his November 8, 2025, co-main event against Joseph “JoJo” Diaz after suffering a wrist sprain. The injury will sideline him for three to six weeks, forcing his removal from the DAZN card in Fort Worth, Texas.

The unbeaten lightweight contender (19-0, 13 KOs) was set to face former IBF super featherweight champion Diaz (34-8-1, 15 KOs) on a Golden Boy Promotions event headlined by Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Erickson Lubin at Dickies Arena. Schofield’s exit dealt an early blow to the anticipated broadcast.

Fans React as Schofield Faces Another Late Withdrawal

Fans online reacted quickly to the news, with some joking that Shakur Stevenson caused the injury. Schofield previously withdrew from a scheduled February 22 title fight against Stevenson just four days before the event, citing illness.

The Spit Bucket Podcast (@TSBBoxing) first reported the wrist sprain, adding to speculation about Schofield’s recent pattern of late withdrawals. Some fans recalled earlier suspicions about his illness, jokingly claiming foul play or even poisoning.

Schofield’s withdrawal disappointed fans more than promoters, as the Diaz matchup was viewed as a showcase rather than a competitive test. The young contender had been expected to deliver another statement victory.

Diaz’s Decline Adds Context to the Cancelled Clash

Schofield’s planned fight against Diaz represented a step down in competition after his first-round knockout of Tevin Farmer on June 28, 2025. Many fans believed Diaz, 32, no longer posed a serious challenge.

Diaz has lost seven of his last nine fights since 2021, including back-to-back defeats to Devin Haney and William Zepeda. Once a respected champion, he has struggled to regain his past form.

While losing Schofield weakens the November 8 lineup, fans mainly regret missing another opportunity to watch the 23-year-old prodigy perform. Golden Boy Promotions expects Schofield to return early next year once he fully recovers.
