Fans and fighters debate after a narrow victory at UFC Vancouver.

Aiemann Zahabi continues his rise in the bantamweight rankings, defeating former title challenger Marlon “Chito” Vera. The fight sparked immediate discussion, with fans questioning who truly controlled the action.

Vera Starts Aggressively, Zahabi Holds His Ground

Vera pressured Zahabi from the opening bell, opening a cut on his opponent’s nose. Zahabi countered with precise strikes, landing cleaner punches in the first round. The exchange showed Vera’s intensity, but Zahabi’s accuracy made the round competitive.

In the second round, Vera’s jab appeared to rock Zahabi. He kept pressing forward, forcing Zahabi to defend. The Canadian endured the pressure and maintained composure, refusing to let Vera take over the fight.

Zahabi Turns the Tide in the Final Round

Zahabi regained control in the third, landing crisp combinations and punishing leg kicks. Judges awarded him a split decision victory, with all scoring 29-28.

    Career Impact for Both Fighters

The win gives Zahabi seven straight victories, including a notable triumph over Jose Aldo at UFC 315.

Vera suffered his third consecutive loss and has now dropped four of his last five fights. His last victory came against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292. Fans now debate whether Vera can bounce back in upcoming bouts.
