British Olympic silver medallist Ben Whittaker signed a long-term contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
The 28-year-old captured light-heavyweight silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before turning professional in 2022.
He has built an unbeaten 9-0-1 record, winning six fights by stoppage.
Whittaker said he feels ready to choose the right platform and pursue the right challenges.
“This move made perfect sense for me at this point in my career,” he explained.
Hearn Hails Whittaker as Future Global Star
Eddie Hearn praised Whittaker as a “once-in-a-generation talent” capable of achieving global success.
He predicted the new deal would elevate Whittaker into superstardom and secure multiple world titles.
“Ben will become a household name,” Hearn said confidently. “He will be number one.”
The partnership aims to build Whittaker’s brand and establish his dominance in the light-heavyweight division.
Rising Star Eyes World Titles After Recent Victory
Whittaker last fought in April, stopping Liam Cameron in the second round of their light-heavyweight rematch.
Their first encounter in October 2024 ended controversially when both fighters fell through the ropes.
An injury prevented Whittaker from continuing, forcing an unsatisfactory draw.
He now looks to continue his unbeaten streak and target championship bouts under Matchroom’s guidance.
Whittaker said he intends to prove his potential and deliver world-level performances in every fight ahead.
